About Michael Montez

I am Michael Montez, but you can call me “Large Mocha”

I was born behind an Orange Curtain, raised outside the City of Angels, was fired in Sin City, and found love in the Rose City (my current home). I studied advertising but I prefer the digital medium. My 2011 resolution is to redefine my web presence…let me know how I’m doing at michaelmontez.com

The Michael Montez Interview

Were you named after anyone?

Thank you for asking. Yes, in fact I was named after someone. His name was…what was his name…oh well, doesn’t matter. What matters is that he was my fathers brother (commonly referred to as an uncle). He died in a car accident before I was born and because of that, I never met him or her.

Where are you living these days?

I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you. Not because my location is a secret, I just enjoy killing people. But seriously, I will kill you after you read this. Or you can find me living in Portland, Oregon’s South Waterfront district (neighborhood/slum).

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Wow, I was not expecting that question. You really know how to get to someone’s soul Oprah. I would have to ask you the following question, are we talking about a case of 8, 16, 24, 48, 64, 96, or 120? In any case (no pun intended) I would be Orange and that is only because I love bananas.

What is your favorite cereal?

When I was younger, I loved KIX (it was for kids after all). As I have grown older, I realized that KIX also come in a generic bag version and that bag version is what my mom bought. So now I think that maybe we were kinda broke and bought poor people food. So now when I see a bowl of KIX all I can think is, “are we having breakfast at a soup kitchen?” When I started to go to friends houses, they often had Cap’n Crunch (in the box – I checked) and they seemed happy so my favorite cereal is Cap’n Crunch.

Going back to Cali…for the weekend

In case you were wondering…I’ll be in Los Angeles this weekend to assist my buddy Matt celebrate his birthday. We are having a house party. Email me if you want to stop by.

One thing about moving your life away from your ‘home’ is making new friends. I have always been a social person. If I meet you for the first time, I’m kinda shy and reserved, but if I am with my buddies and friends, I’m completely different. Being in Portland, I have only one close friend, my girlfriend Alison. Nothing wrong with that, she’s the reason I moved here. But being the social butterfly, I have found it difficult to make new, close friends. If you have any ideas about making friends in a new city, please let me know.
